Green Breakfast Smoothie (AKA- Ninja Turtle Smoothies)

There are hundreds of recipes for "green smoothies".  But this is how we do green smoothies at our house, otherwise known as "ninja turtle smoothies". Said name came because my boy is ALL about ninja turtles right now.  Just as food presentation is important, names are too right?  (I mean really names like "White Trash", "Kitchen Sink Cookies" "Frog Eye Salad"-- just the names themselves make me not want to eat them)

So, to entice him to try a healthy, green, spinach smoothie, I gave him a straw and called it ninja turtle smoothies and he bought it. :)  [insert devilish laugh] He liked it too, and he is not much of a smoothie fan.  I make these on a regular basis and you really can't taste the spinach!  Secret:  Banana.  No smoothie should be without it.

Green Breakfast Smoothie
From Egg Free Bakery

1/2 cup apple juice
1 small overripe banana
1/4 cup vanilla yogurt
large handful of baby spinach
4-5 ice cubes, optional

Combine juice, banana, yogurt and spinach in a blender.  Blend until smooth.  Add ice cubes if desired and pulse until desired consistency is reached.  Serve immediately.  Yields 1 large smoothie or 2 small smoothies.
