Streusel-Topped Apple Crisp

Apples are in season!  This is a recipe that has been in our family for a long time.  It's the best!  This recipe makes a lot, so I opted to half the recipe and cook it in individual ramekins (all for me of course!) which is what is pictured below.  Hope you are all enjoying the beginning of fall!  Time to cozy up in sweaters and have soups, bake, turn on my pumpkin spice candle wax melt and sing along to Les Mis and Wicked...

Streusel-Topped Apple Crisp
From Egg Free Bakery

5 cups sliced tart apples

Boil sliced apples in ½ cup water for a couple minutes in microwave to soften slightly. Arrange apples in greased 9 x 13 inch baking pan.

3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup quick cooking oats
1/3 cup butter
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 tsp. nutmeg

Mix ingredients together and sprinkle over apple layer.

1/3 cup butter, melted
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup granulated sugar

Melt butter.  Stir in flour and sugar, mixing until crumbly.  Sprinkle over oatmeal mixture layer.

Bake in a preheated oven at 375 degrees for 25-30 minutes.  Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.
